Want a competitive hiring advantage? Eye optimizing your mobile applications

Statistics about how the workforce has been utilizing mobile apps during everyone's time away from the office last year is finally rolling out, and it's fairly staggering how many people search for jobs on their phone.   Are your mobile applications optimized?  Read on to find out more...

Unfortunately, increased costs go hand in hand with adopting a mobile-first approach, but there are tricks you can do to save both time and money and increase your application conversion rates, and we will get to those momentarily.

But first, let's tackle the numbers.  In 2020, a staggering 61% of job applications started on mobile, compared to 49.6% in 2019 - an increase of over 22%!  

The first thing you'll need to do, just like we did when we revamped HireMojo's process to be mobile-optimized, was go through your application process on your phone.  Identify the pain points.  How well does your current ATS support mobile applications (if at all)?

The other thing you can do to help, regardless of your mobile-optimization level is time how long it takes you to get through your application process.  Reducing the friction for applicants to a process under five minutes shows to increase applicant conversion rates by 385% (not a typo) compared with a process that takes over 15 minutes.

This can save you a material amount of money, if you identify the absolute bare-bones requirements for mobile optimization and identify and convert those elements to mobile-optimized/mobile-first initially.

The end goal is to make an application process that's quick, easy, meets the criteria you need and can be done from the palm of your hand.
